SAVAS.STUDIO is an Amsterdam-based design practice founded by
SAVAS. The studio works across identity, art direction,
publishing, moving image, and digital and physical surfaces.
A brief is not a set of instructions. It is a set of assumptions
to be examined. The studio begins each project by questioning
the expectations embedded in the commission itself: what is
being asked for, and why.
The work is guided by mood, not style. Whether the project takes
form as a visual identity, a website, a publication, a garment,
or a campaign, an object's context does not determine its formal
language. Convention assigns visual codes to categories; the
studio treats these assignments as provisional, not binding. The
only measure is whether the concept is coherent on its own
terms.
Context is acknowledged, not obeyed. The studio has no interest
in positioning work as either confirmation or disruption of
existing norms. Both are reactive postures, shaped around what
already exists. The work begins from its own logic and moves
independently.
SAVAS has practiced as a designer and artist for over twenty
years. His artwork has been exhibited in Paris, Istanbul, New
York, Moscow, and London, with work shown at Centre Pompidou and
licensed by the French Ministry of Education. Collaborators have
included Nike, adidas, Givenchy, and Volkswagen.
The studio values questions over assignments, collaborators over
clients, concept over taste, and mood over style. It designs the
system before the surface. The discipline changes; the attention
does not.
